شعرت بالحزن في البداية لأنني سأفارق هذه الرحلة الطيبة قريبًا، فصدقًا كنت أحاول قدر المستطاع أن أطيلها، ثم أصبح الحزن سببه أن الحكاية ستنتهي ولم أخرج منها بما انتظرته، كنت أنتظر المزيد من الجماليات، المزيد من الروحانيات، المزيد من خفقان القلب لكلمة أو موقف لا ينسى للحبيب ﷺ، المزيد عن الوحي وتفاصيله، عن القرآن وتنزيله، عن تدارس تعاليم الإسلام، عن زوجات الرسول، عن أشياء كثيرة وددت لو وجدتها في رحلتي هذه، ولكن للأسف اقتصر الكتاب على الجانب الحربي بالأساس، فرغمًا عني شعرت أن الرحلة، على ما بها من جمال ومتعة، ستظل ناقصة، فأجمل ما في سيرة الحبيب ﷺ، ليست المعارك والغزوات، التي تبرز جانبًا واحدًا من شخصيته، فكأني أشاهد فيلمًا وثائقيًا، أو أدرس كتابًا للإمتحان في معلوماته أكثر من الاستفادة من روحانياته.
قال: أبكاني أنا كنا في زيادة من ديننا، فأما إذا كمل فإنه لم يكمل شيء قط إلا نقص.
